How to choose a searchlight?

An example of a searchlighht (Seaes H400 - production will be available soon)

The searchlight is a specialized equipment designed for the timely detection of hazards during maritime navigation. The choice of a searchlight is largely determined by the range of the searchlight, the range of tasks to be solved, the classification of the marine vessel, as well as the operating conditions.

Small boats and vessels use low-voltage halogen or xenon spotlights with a voltage of 12 or 24 volts and a power of up to 250 watts. Halogen spotlights with a power of 1000 to 2000 watts are optimally suited for commercial fleets and tugs. These spotlights are suitable for standard tasks, such as highlighting work sites or detecting the coastline.

On specialized vessels, for example: rescue vessels, icebreakers, patrol vessels and Navy ships, searchlights with a xenon lamp are installed, which have a long range and allow timely detection of drifting debris, icebergs and other hazards.

Each searchlight can have different types of control: direct control by a handle mounted on the body of the searchlight; direct mechanical connection for control from the wheelhouse; remote electric joystick control from the remote control. Currently, the most used in the Navy is a halogen searchlight with a power of 1000 watts with various types of control.
